The Very Best of Travel October 2016

This is the first in a series of monthly blog posts where I’ll share with you the absolute best of Travel from around the Internet.

Here you’ll find all the best blog posts, articles, deals and giveaways of the last month. So you can get your travel fix, without having to scour the internet.

Travel Writing (Destinations and Stories)

Nomadic Matt has written a great write up on Sri Lanka, showing you a complete breakdown of the costs of a trip, and how to plan your own there.

Scotland is a country that I love. Partly because I spent some time growing up there, and partly because Edinburgh is my favourite European city right now. Adventurous Kate talks about her love affair with Scotland in this exquisite article.

If you want to immerse yourself in some stories from the road, James Lowen talks about his experiences in South America for National Geographic traveller.

And in my favourite article of the month, Matt Karsten from Expert Vagabond shows you around the Pink Lakes of Las Coloradas.

And, if you want to see a budget-travel challenge, you can check out my first ever £200 challenge to Budapest right here.

Discounts and Offers

Ryanair have been offering flights from UK destinations for as low as £2.00 for destinations across Europe. Flights seem to be mainly on Tuesday and Wednesdays, but you could snag yourself a Christmas Markets deal. Find them here.

Secret Flying have also been sharing some incredible deals. Like, London to Costa Rica for £269 return. If you haven’t yet bookmarked this page, you definitely should!

Language Learning

I was fortunate enough this month to be featured on the Fluent in 3 Months blog, with this in-depth guide on how to learn the basics of any language before you go away. (You can also get it as a free eBook here).

I’ve also been using the last month to go from zero German through to being able to have a conversation. I’ve been using this Language Hacking German book, and was able to have an hour long conversation after just four weeks (blog post to come shortly).

If you want to supercharge your language learning, you can also get them for Italian, Spanish and French.

For the next two weeks I’m giving you the chance to win a travel photography lens kit, with LED light, worth £20 from Camkix! All you have to do is answer the question below.
